Building your Internet Business Slowly

Lots of people get taken in by the idea that you can toss together a web site and start making a gazillion overnight. Granted, it takes much less time and money to put together a web site than it does to start a "bricks and mortar" business, but anybody who tells you that you can make a fortune with no work and in the blink of an eye is at best ill-informed.

It takes time to build any business. You need to have patience, and nurture it like you would a plant in your garden. You need time to learn how it works, time to learn how best to promote and advertise it, time to learn a variety of relevant skills. You need to re-invest your early profits back into the business, expanding it, buying more advertising, or whatever. It needs time to grow.

Many people give up way too quickly, in part, perhaps, because they were drawn to the opportunity in the first place by someone who promised them overnight riches. As soon as they find out there is some work involved, and perhaps the investment of some money, these people are down the road, looking for the next "free lunch".

Patience, belief in yourself, and perserverance are perhaps the three most important traits you will need, if you're going to succeed at anything. You need to be willing to learn, willing to take the time and money to do things right, and willing to wait for it to develop to fruition. You need to watch and learn from others who have succeeded at this business, and emulate them. You need to develop your own expertise. All of that takes time.
